When Jesus ascended back to heaven His disciple gathered together in the upper room and were in unity and in prayer (Acts 1:14).
Peter also lead the group according to the Word of God as they replaced Judas, who betrayed Jesus and took his life according to the scripture.
When the church (the people of God), gather together in unity, prayer, and the scripture, we are in the perfect position for the Holy Spirit to work miracles in and through the church.
We all know what happened next. The Holy Spirit came upon the disciples and the church was born.
Although Satan tried to get people to believe that God's work was his work (the accusation that the miracle they were witnessing was because the disciples were drunk from new wine is Satan's destructive work), God's people stood firm in their faith. Peter preached and over 3,000 people got saved on the birthday of the church.
Look what the new church continued to practice in Acts 2:42:
|42 They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.|
Christians wherever we are, we must continue to come together, lay aside our petty differences and practice the disciines that keeps the church strong and powerfully positioned to make a difference in the world around us with Holy Spirit power (see Acts 2:43 forward).
